The HKUST AI Film Festival leverages Hong Kong’s unique position as a cultural hub and the university’s distinctive strengths in AI-generated content research, technological expertise, and innovative spirit to transcend the boundaries between technology and art, Eastern and Western cultures, and tradition and avant-garde expression.

​The second edition of the AI Film Festival, themed New Boundaries, New Life, hosted by Division of Arts and Machine Creativity, will be held at HKUST on May 16-17. It will not only showcase the latest artistic and technological works from academia and industry worldwide but also invite renowned scholars, industry experts, and leading enterprises from around the globe to exchange insights on cutting-edge developments.

The second edition has invited judges and guests including Invited AI technology frontier companies include Tencent, Kling, MiniMax and Tapnow, along with top AI startups, AI creative studios, and leading universities and secondary schools in Hong Kong. The event is also supported by the Global AI Film Hack@MIT and the Beijing International Film Festival AIGC Section.

 

The Festival is privileged to convene distinguished judges and guests including Paul Debevec (Chief Scientist at Netflix Studio), Tia Carrere (Hollywood actress, two-time Grammy Award winner), Tony Ngai (Asia-Pacific Governor of SMPTE), Feynman Li (General Manager, Tencent Online Video), Jacob Adler (Runway AI Film Festival Gold Prize winner, Professor at the Arizona State University), Ruby Yang (HKU), Professor Tao Tao (Professor at the Central Academy of Drama, Gold Award winner of the International Science and Education Film China Dragon Awards), Professor Chul Heo (Professor at BNBU, Film Director), Chanel Kong (M+), Ka Sing Fung (Film Director) and other leading scholars from esteemed institutions. Participation and support also come from Tencent, Kling, TapNow, Minimax and other frontier AI enterprises, with additional support from the Global AI Film Hack@MIT and the Beijing International Film Festival AIGC Section.
