The Division of Arts and Machine Creativity (AMC) at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) proudly announces our first-ever overseas artwork showcase at the upcoming Ars Electronica campus exhibition, one of the world's leading exhibition exploring the intersection of art, technology, science, and society, to be held on September 9 – 13, 2026 at the city of Linz, Austria.
香港科技大學藝術與機器創造力學部欣然宣佈，學部將參加本年度奧地利林茲電子藝術節（Ars Electronica）校園展覽，進行首次海外作品展出。Ars Electronica 為探索藝術、科技與社會議題的世界頂尖電子藝術盛會之一，將於 2026 年 9 月 9 日至 13 日在奧地利林茲舉行。
Our delegation of student artists led by AMC faculty member and Director of SIG Programme Dr. Vennes CHENG will be presenting a total of four selected student artworks, at the prominent exhibition venue located in the University of Arts Linz.

The 2026 Ars Electronica campus exhibition in Linz by the HKUST Division of Arts and Machine Creativity (AMC) reclaims the term generative from its current confinement to machine intelligence, situating it within a deeper history spanning biological reproduction and mathematical logic. By tracing this lineage—from cellular automata and morphogenesis to Chomskyan linguistics and early computational aesthetics—we examine how generativity has transitioned from a rule-based engine of human thought to an omnipresent, data-driven force.
是次香港科技大學藝術與機器創造力學部，於 2026 年奧地利林茲電子藝術節（Ars Electronica）的校園展覽將「生成」一詞從現代機器智慧的狹隘語境中解放出來，並重新置於橫跨生物繁衍與數學邏輯的深厚歷史中。透過梳理細胞自動機、形態發生論（Morphogenesis）、喬姆斯基（Chomsky）語言學及早期電腦美學的脈絡，我們旨在探討「生成性」如何從人類思維的規則引擎，演變為無處不在的數據驅動力量。
This exhibition showcases collaborative works of students from HKUST’s Master of Arts in Arts and Machine Creativity (MA in AMC) program. Through AI, technological mapping, and HCI, these projects navigate the dissolution of boundaries between human intent and algorithmic probability. In an era transitioning from a society of ‘authors’ to one of ‘prompters’, this curation moves beyond the tension between humanity and technology to explore our fundamental cohabitation with non-human systems.
本展覽匯集了香港科技大學藝術與機器創造力文學碩士課程的學生創作。透過人工智能、技術映射與人機互動（HCI）等媒介，這些作品探討了人類意圖與演算法機率之間日益模糊的界線。在人類社會從「作者」時代過渡至「提示詞（Prompt）」時代的當下，本次策展旨在超越人類與科技之間的對立，共同思考我們在非人類系統共存時代的生存本質。
