AMC Research Assistant Professor Xian Xu's research team has received the Best Paper Honorable Mention Award in the IEEE Conference on Virtual Reality and 3D User Interfaces (IEEE VR) 2025.
The award-winning research paper, titled “Illuminating the Scene: How Virtual Environments and Learning Modes Shape Film Lighting Mastery in Virtual Reality,” is co-authored by PhD students Wei ZHENG from HKUST, Sun JIA, Junxiang LIAO from HKUST (GZ), Chan In Devin SIO from Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), and esteemed professors: Prof. Lik-Hang LEE from PolyU, Prof. Pan HUI from HKUST, Prof. Huamin QU from HKUST, Dr. Xian XU from HKUST and Prof. Wai TONG from Texas A&M University.
The paper, published in March 2025, presents the impact of virtual environments and collaboration on learning film lighting techniques in VR education. It offers insights into optimizing VR environments to enhance learning outcomes in both individual and collaborative settings.
