The Division of Arts and Machine Creativity at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is excited to announce our faculty contributions at the upcoming SIGGRAPH 2025, one of the world’s premier conference cum exhibition on computer graphics and interactive techniques, scheduled to be held in Vancouver, Canada from 10-14 August, 2025.
This year, AMC faculty members will present their frontier work in the fields of AI, machine creativity and visual computing, with three research papers accepted and major contribution in two workshops at the conference, in a concerted effort to fortify the Division's leading position at the intersection of art and technology.
Our warmest congratulations to Prof. Hongbo FU, Prof. Wenhan LUO, Prof. Anyi RAO and Dr. Xian XU, whose impactful contributions are bound to bring the success of SIGGRAPH 2025 to next level.
Accepted Research Papers [Technical Papers program]
- Sketch3DVE: Sketch-based 3D-Aware Scene Video Editing
Feng-Lin Liu, Shi-Yang Li, Yan-Pei Cao, Hongbo Fu, Lin Gao
Proposes a sketch-driven method for editing 3D video content under significant viewpoint changes. By estimating point clouds and camera parameters, Sketch3DVE enables precise geometry manipulation and realistic integration of edits using a 3D-aware mask propagation strategy and video diffusion model, supporting both sketch and mask-based inputs. - DAM-VSR: Disentanglement of Appearance and Motion for Video Super-Resolution
Zhe Kong, Le Li, Yong Zhang, Feng Gao, Shaoshu Yang, Tao Wang, Kaihao Zhang, Zhuoliang Kang, Xiaoming Wei, Guanying Chen, Wenhan Luo
Addresses temporal inconsistency in diffusion-based VSR by disentangling appearance (using image SR) from motion (via video ControlNet), combined with motion-aligned bidirectional sampling, achieving SOTA performance on both real-world and AIGC video super-resolution.
Accepted Research Papers [Art Papers program]
- Multi Layered Autonomy and AI Ecologies in Robotic Art Installations
Baoyang Chen, Xian Xu, Huamin Qu
Presents Symbiosis of Agents, an AI-driven robotic installation that explores machine agency, audience interaction, and ethical questions through emergent behaviors, cybernetic principles, and conceptual art, positioning AI as a creative collaborator in a dynamic, evolving environment.
