In Week 6 of the course AMCC 5330: Art Administration and Art Business in the New Era, students had the opportunity to visit the Asia Society Hong Kong for an enriching learning experience beyond the classroom.
The visit began with an introduction by Brynn, an Asia Society Hong Kong representative, who shared her professional journey and insights into the arts and cultural sector. Students then explored the exhibition “Singing and Dancing with Brush and Ink: The Art of Wesley Tongson”. The gallery visit gave students an opportunity to engage with contemporary ink art and reflect on how exhibitions are developed and presented to the public. The visit continued with a tour to Asia Society’s distinctive heritage architecture, including its remarkable auditorium.
At the end of the visit, students were warmly welcomed by Ms. Alice Mong, President of Asia Society Hong Kong and a HKUST EMBA alumna. Ms. Mong shared the importance of sustainable operational methods for NGOs working in the arts and culture sector. The visit concluded with an introduction to Asia Society’s internship and docent opportunities, inspiring students to explore future pathways in the arts and culture sector.
This visit enriched students’ knowledge of the development of an exhibition and NGOs’ operations strategy in the arts and culture sector.
